The Two Nations Cultural Exchange is an annual partnership event hosted jointly by Six Nations Tourism and Wikwemikong Tourism uniting the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe cultures. Beginning in 2024, and now entering its third year, this multi-day event sets the stage for a cultural exchange showcasing what both nations have to offer.

In 2026 the communities once again come together and invite you to the 3rd annual Two Nations Cultural Exchange hosted at Chiefswood Park, with a two-day experience of workshops and traditional teachings, complemented by delicious traditional foods prepared by local indigenous chefs and caterers. This upcoming 2026 two-day experience is being held on August 14 & 15, 2026.

Consisting of six member nations, including the Cayuga, Onondaga, Seneca, Tuscarora, Mohawk and the Oneida, the Six Nations Confederacy began over 400 years ago. Six Nations Tourism has only been in operation for a very small part of that (30 years,) but in that short time has been consistently sharing and committed to highlighting the traditions, practices and culture of these nations with the world. As the largest Indigenous territory in Canada by population, we share the responsibility of showcasing the best that our community has to offer, not only provincially and nationally, but also internationally.

Wikwemikong is recognized as the largest First Nation community on Manitoulin Island, as well as Canada’s only officially recognized unceded Indigenous Territory. Experts at sharing their rich culture and history with the world, they offer wonderfully unique nature-based, culinary, and cultural tours in their community. Their authentic Indigenous experiences are award-winning and are designed to reflect the traditions and culture of the Anishinabek people of the Three Fires Confederacy – Ojibwe, Odawa, and Pottawatomi.

Coming together August 14 & 15 this year, the Two Nations Cultural Exchange between Six Nations and Wikwemikong will include event highlights such as an Indigenous culinary experience featuring tastings and meals specially designed and curated by Indigenous chefs from both cultures and communities. Cultural teachings will also take centre stage in workshops which, to date, have included storytelling, star gazing, medicine walks, and traditional crafts. As well as on-the-water journeys that include interpretive paddling in voyageur canoes.
