1710 Chapel Royal Concert
1710 Chapel Royal Concert 2PM
We are pleased to invite you to our ‘1710 Chapel Royal Concert” to be held on September 18 at 2 PM at H.M. Royal Chapel of the Mohawk, Six Nations Territory, Brantford Ontario. The Mohawk Chapel is the oldest Royal Chapel in Canada (1785) and the only Royal Chapel outside of Great Britain with its’ own Royal Arms.
The Chapel Royal has a long history, going back to the late 13th century. In those early days, the priests and choir travelled with the King wherever he went.
In the 17th century, the Chapel Royal had its own building in the Palace of Whitehall. This building burned down in 1698. Since 1702, the Chapel Royal has been based at St. James's Palace. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Chapel Royal choir was considered the best in England. Famous composers like William Byrd and Thomas Tallis were organists there. They worked during the time of Queen Elizabeth.
We invite you to join us for the afternoon!
