SIX NATIONS OF THE GRAND RIVER, ON – March 29, 2019- Chiefswood Park, managed by Six Nations Tourism, a sub-department of the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC), conducted a survey which included the voices and opinions of the Six Nations people. The survey polled community members on the anticipated opening/closing dates of the park, as well as the hours of operation. Based on survey results and community input, Chiefswood Park intends to be open for tour season Saturday, May 18, 2019, and will close for the season Saturday, October, 13 2019, with hours of operation beginning at 6:00am and closing at 9:00pm.

“Chiefswood Park will become a place where community members and visitors alike can learn about our rich Haudenosaunee history, the site will be a fun, interactive, and safe area for families to enjoy and spend time together,” said Constance Jamieson, Manager of Six Nations Tourism. Over the next few years through a phased approach, Six Nations Tourism will be transforming the park into a year-round facility with a number of enhancements to boost tourism while improving the space for community use.

Available in the 2019 Tour Season, Chiefswood Park will offer various rental activities to the Six Nations Community and tourists to the area including, Canoe/Kayak Rentals, Experience Packages, boat dock launch, and guided and non-guided tours through the park and/or the historic sites. Construction on the cabin accommodations will continue throughout the summer months and are expected to be complete by late Fall 2019.
