When you’re in love, Valentine’s Day can be something you plan for months ahead. But, if you’re like many of us, it might be the furthest thing from your mind until the last-minute! Yes, you love your partner. And, you want to show them your affection in a way that’s meaningful to the two of you. So, if you’re looking for ideas on how to express your love, we’ve got some great ways to do so on-the-quick and well-within budget (…but who can put a price on that?!)
Flowers & Gifts
Perhaps your love would enjoy flowers for Valentine’s Day. Always synonymous with “love,” long-stemmed roses in their favorite colour (although red is usually a winner,) would make their hearts melt (hint, hint!) Or, if a surprise isn’t necessarily the order of the day, why not ask them what their favorite flower is? A local florist can easily accommodate you and prepare a spray of fresh flowers that will sweep them off their feet. If a gift that packs a punch is something you’re after, anything from jewelry to art to clothing can be found locally – all of which are priced right and speak highly of your good taste (wink, wink.) Gift items can be found at several retailers on Six Nations located at the link provided here. If time and experiences together is what you’re thinking, may we suggest a spa day, some time enjoying indoor golf, or maybe some snowshoeing at Chiefswood Park or along the Six Nations Nature Trail (if the winter weather cooperates.)
Aside from purchasing the obvious, you may be looking to take your partner out on a Valentine’s Day date. The Six Nations community features some great opportunities to take your loved one out for a fun time, including hiking, going to a winter lacrosse league game or cheering a local hockey team. You could also spend time at a paint night experience, taking a cooking class together, or playing Cupid’s Cash at Six Nations Bingo! You could get some inspiration from reading love letters at Chiefswood National Historic Site. OR, if you’re feeling super lovey-dovey, you could renew your vows at Her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks. And, scarce is the night that we don’t find sharing a cup of hot chocolate around a winter bonfire at home as being romantic!
Dinner for Two
What Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a romantic dinner for two? Dining out with your partner can be the icing on the romance cake if you’re looking to sweep them off their feet. Casual dinner in heart-shaped style can be had in pizza form at Village Pizza (by special request,) or you can share an Indian taco for two from TNT. If southern style comfort food is more your style, steak dinner, pasta, shrimp, and deliciously fresh burgers (with unbelievable serving sizes) are all available at Burger Barn, and no reservation is required!
So, what are you waiting for? Get your Valentine’s Day gift-giving and time-sharing ideas in gear with these great tips, and sweep your sweetheart off their feet. Whether this is your first Valentine’s Day together or you’re trying to reignite the flames, there’s no better place or time than here and now!
